Human-Made Design, for Real Human Connection.
Our AI Policy
It is our firm belief that AI can never replace human creativity; it can only plagiarize from the existing work of others. At Instinct, we promise to keep AI out of our design process by refusing to use AI generated images, text or other assets. We are a purely human design firm, creating original work that fosters human connection.
Plagiarism Concerns
As AI develops faster than the guardrails surrounding it, things can get legally murky. AI generated assets are created by learning off of existing work, so the legality of copyright when it comes to AI is foggy at best. We’re protecting our clients from plagiarism and copyright infringement claims by relying on human creativity and paid, licensed assets where necessary.
Brand Elevation
Using AI generated product images can create distrust with potential customers, as it signals that something is “wrong” with the real life product. It also cheapens your brand by pushing the idea that businesses are trying to cut corners by not hiring illustrators or photographers.
Using real humans to produce the imagery that you use within your brand creates real-life connections in your community, builds trust with your client base, and is rapidly becoming a hallmark of elevated, trusted brands.
Environmental Concerns
Data centers required for processing AI prompts need massive amounts of water to keep them from overheating. While our business is only a very small drop in the bucket, we choose to do our part to steward our environment and prevent the increasingly dry conditions that contribute to wildfires. We prefer our communities and farmlands hydrated, and we can create a whole lot of beautiful things for a whole lot less water.
We even hand-illustrate elements with a good old fashioned pen and paper once in a while.
